The most interesting part of the factory tour, however, is watching how the chocolate is made and how it is mixed together with other ingredients to create different tastes. You will also be able to see the enrobing machine, which creates a waterfall of chocolate to cover candies. Each day, the South Bend Chocolate Company and Factory makes thousands of pounds of candy. When it gets close to the holidays, the amount of chocolate that they make actually doubles!
After the candy is created and enrobed, it goes through the cooling tunnel. The candy takes about fifteen minutes to cool completely. Afterwards, the candy is boxed in regular boxes and gift boxes.
